Joe’s Tasting Note: “This wine is literally a fiasco. Well, it comes in one. The straw-wrapped bottle is a ‘fiasco’ and brings the charm of an Italian trattoria to your kitchen table. Alongside the fruity aromas of cherry and plum in a mid-weight wine. It’s great with tomato-based dishes, long-cooked pasta sauces and veal.
Ruffino was among the first wineries to rediscover the Chiant Superiore appellation.
The grapes for this wine are sourced from vineyards located in two of the most renowned areas for production of Chianti: Valdarno and Monteriggioni.
Ruby red in colour with violet hues.
The bouquet is intense and typical of Chianti. Fruity notes of fresh plums and black cherries are well matched with flavors of black pepper and sweet spice.
Intense and medium-bodied, Chianti Superiore presents elegant tannins that perfectly match its fruity body. The finish is persistent and shows notes of fresh cherry and blueberry.
Food Pairing Suggestions: This wine pairs beautifully with a wide variety of fresh, seasonal and simply prepared Italian foods. It’s especially delicious with Italian sausage, lasagna, and Italian-inspired fare such as meatball sliders and medium-strength cheeses.
